The Sauerland extends to the east and south-east of the Ruhr area and forms the northern part of the Rhenish Slate Mountains. Its highest elevations are the Langenberg (843 m) near Willingen and the Kahle Asten (841 m) near Winterberg.
Insiders rave about the Sauerland as one of the most beautiful motorbike regions in Germany. Numerous rivers in winding valleys - Ruhr, Lenne, Sorpe, Möhne, Eder and Bigge - cut through the landscape. These are, of course, ideal conditions for the many reservoirs in the Sauerland, where some of the best-known biker meeting places have established themselves. From there, bikers are drawn along small country roads through wide meadow and forest landscapes to enjoy the winding touring fun at length. In Willingen's immediate vicinity are the Diemel and Edersee lakes with their well-known bike meeting places.
BIKE WEEK WILLINGEN
Willingen has been the location of the biggest event for Harley enthusiasts between Hamburg and Faak since 2016. The special location and tourist infrastructure make Willingen the ideal location for Bike Week and the starting point for beautiful tours.
