Alpine Skiing & Snowboarding

With 18 km of sunny slopes up to 2 km long, the World Cup resort exceeds the dimensions of most low mountain resorts. Over 100 snow cannons/lances provide snow for the main runs on the Sonnenhang, Ritzhagen, Köhlerhagen and Ettelsberg. In addition, the Ettelsberg cable car & the K1 chairlift are currently the most modern cable cars in Germany. Also at Ritzhagen a 6-seater chair transports you quickly up the mountain. And if you're already in the mood for skiing in the evening, Willingen is the place to be for floodlit skiing followed by après-ski!

Michèle's tip: FLOWLIGHT SKI RIDING! Every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 6.30 pm to 9.45 pm the slopes are lit up for you. Here the slopes are emptier, no waiting times at the lifts. The sunny slope is always perfectly prepared. Afterwards, a mulled wine in the Vis à Vis hut and the floodlit evening in Willingen is perfect.

ADVENTURE NORDIC SPORTS
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING & SNOWSHOEING

Willingen is also a household name for friends of Nordic sports. In the home town of cross-country skiing legend Jochen Behle, there are around 100 kilometres of well-groomed cross-country ski trails and around 30 kilometres of cleared winter hiking trails - also ideal for snowshoe hiking - to choose from. Detailed cross-country skiing tours are available for you at the hotel. You can also find comprehensive information about the winter world of Willingen at www.willingen.de.

On the move on bear's paws...
Michèle's tip for snowshoeing: Make sure you get to know the winter wonderland of Willingen on snowshoes! Blue skies, deep snow-covered forests and the tranquillity of nature dressed all in white make a winter hike on "bear paws" a fairytale experience - great even far from the usual signposted trails or at night with a headlamp! The Craft Shop in Willingen offers guided snowshoe tours and rental equipment.

COLD FEET ARE OUT!
WINTER HIKING

Blue skies, snow-covered forests, icy streams, cold, clear air and the tranquillity of nature dressed all in white make a hike in the winter wonderland of Willingen an unforgettable experience. Around 30 km of prepared winter hiking trails await you around Willingen. The paths are well signposted and are either cleared or prepared with snow, and the little ones can be taken along on a sledge.

Angelika's tip: Take the cable car to the Ettelsberg. There you have the opportunity to visit the Hochheide tower - in winter the view over the snow-covered Sauerland is a dream. From there you continue towards the "Große Grube". If you have your toboggan with you, you can toboggan from here almost all the way down to the Strycktal valley, or you can take a leisurely hike downhill to the run-out of the Mühlenkopf ski jump. You can warm up with hot chocolate and waffles at Café Aufwind in the run-out before continuing towards Willingen along the Strycktal hiking trail / Stryckteich back to the village centre.

FAMILIES TAKE NOTE:
CHILDREN'S LAND, TOBOGGANING, ICE SKATING & CO

For kids, skiing beginners or riders who prefer to take it easy, the Ritzhagen is THE slope in Willingen. The ski and toboggan conveyor belt (300 m) offers excellent conditions for skiing and tobogganing for the little ones. In addition, the 6-seater chair transports you comfortably up the slope. Modern ski and toboggan rentals in the immediate vicinity and a large children's area round off the offer. Since 2019, there is also a great hut restaurant - the Einkehrschwung - ready for you!

And if you don't want to use the skis or the toboggan for once: visit our ice skating rink or book a horse-drawn sleigh ride through Willingen's snow-covered forests. Either way, a very special winter sports experience is guaranteed!
